This class is designed to give the fly angler all the instruction and insight needed to begin flyfishing on any of Colorado’s streams and lakes. From experienced instructors you will learn: ¨ The dynamics of fly fishing, entomology (insect behavior and habitat) fly selection and design, trout behavior and habitat, the differences in equipment and how the systems work. ¨ The basic knots ¨ Fly casting dynamics, basic cast and the roll cast as well as an evaluation of the student to determine the flyfishing system that is most effective. ¨ On the water. The skills you have learned will come into play as you practice different fly casting techniques. You will learn how to read the water, how to spot fish, recognize fly drag and practice how to eliminate it or use it to make your fly “come alive”. This section of the class will take place on the water. COST$100.00 – Instruction fee covers the class and the use of all equipment. Payment MUST accompany Registration Form. The Internationally known Bob Cook Memorial/Mt. Evans HillClimb will happen on Mt. Evans on Saturday, July 21st. Over 1000 people challenge the mountain each year. In 2006 there were participants from 29 states and 4 countries and the youngest rider was 9 and the oldest 78.
The event was started in 1962 and was named in 1981 for Bob Cook, a 23 year old Colorado native who died of cancer.
The event stages at the Clear Creek Middle School. The start line is in the school's parking lot and finishes at the summit of Mt. Evans.
The road is open to traffic to Echo Lake and then closed from Echo Lake to the top.
The race donates to The American Cancer Association, The Tyler Hamilton Foundation, and Bicycle Colorado.
